How To Introduce Ben & Jerry’s Doggie Desserts To Your Dog

We know that you only want the best for your four-legged pals. And just like you enjoy digging into a pint of your favorite Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor, your pups will love digging into Ben & Jerry’s Doggie Desserts frozen dog treats. But just like any new food or treat, it’s best to introduce it to your dog slowly and carefully. We’ve put together the following tips and tricks to ensure your pup has a drool-worthy first taste of Pontch’s Mix and Rosie’s Batch Doggie Desserts.

Start Slowly

Just like any other new food or treat, it’s best to introduce it to your pup in small amounts. To avoid a potential doggie brain freeze or belly ache, we suggest giving them one small spoonful at first, then waiting a few hours for their second taste. Frozen treats may also be a new eating experience for your pup. They may lick it slowly or try to bite at the frozen treat, which is their way of exploring what this new deliciousness is all about.

If your pup loves this new treat (and they totally will!), then you can slowly increase the amount you give them. And remember, this is a treat and isn’t meant to replace your dog’s regular food. Please consult your veterinarian for more information about your pet’s nutritional and dietary needs.

A Little For A Little

If your dog is still a puppy or small in size, consider offering them a small scoop instead of a full Doggie Dessert mini cup. Sometimes treats are best served based on the size or age of your dog. If your dog is under 15 lbs, we suggest starting with a small amount to see how they respond. Always consult with your veterinarian on what types of treats are best for your dog based on their specific needs.

Bowls Are Best

You’ll probably be tempted to open up a Doggie Desserts mini cup and give it directly to your dog. But dogs sometimes get a little too excited about treats and may accidentally consume the cup itself. Whoopfs! For that reason, we recommend you scoop the treat out of the mini cup and serve it to them in a bowl. (Even better, this adorable Ben & Jerry’s doggie bowl!)
